Mauritania is a country located in Northwest Africa, with a population estimated to be around 4.5 million people. It is known for its Sahara Desert landscapes, ancient caravan routes, and diverse ethnic groups. The official language spoken in Mauritania is Arabic.

The presence of British or Irish people in Mauritania is relatively limited. However, there may be British or Irish expatriates residing in Mauritania for various reasons, such as work, particularly in sectors such as education, development projects, or research. They contribute to the local economy, engage in cultural exchange, and appreciate the desert scenery, traditional music, and nomadic traditions of Mauritania.
In the event of the most unfortunate circumstances, should an individual from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, or any non-native origin pass away in Mauritania, Rosy International's Mauritania team is ready to assist in repatriating their remains (including ashes) back to the UK or Ireland. We can arrange collection from Nouakchott, Nouadhibou, Rosso, Kaédi, Zouérat or any other specified location in Mauritania.
Conversely, the Mauritanian community in the UK is relatively small. They may be dispersed across different regions, but London is likely to have a small Mauritanian community.
