Scotland, the northernmost country of the United Kingdom, had a population of about 5.5 million in 2023, with its historic capital located in Edinburgh. This culturally rich nation has an expansive diaspora, with approximately 180,000 Scottish expats living outside the country, primarily in England, the United States, Canada, and Australia, as reported by the Scottish Government.

However, despite their physical distance, the attachment to their homeland remains deep-rooted. Instances of deaths in these expat communities may arise from a variety of causes, such as diseases, drug-related issues, or infections. These circumstances necessitate the process of body repatriation back to Scotland. Furthermore, while visiting globally renowned destinations like the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, unforeseen incidents may occur, leading to situations that also require repatriation.
